“What if it Wasn’t a Kiss that Woke Sleeping Beauty?
Gabriel Devereux comes from a long line of service. His parents and grandparents have served the man known as “The Beast” for as long as he can remember. When he is given the chance to study in a prestigious Paris university to train as a physician, he looks forward to continuing his family’s legacy in even greater ways. However, the people he encounters leave him disillusioned and heartbroken.
Rose Rousseau has no trouble defending those she loves. She’s confident and fiercely loyal. This is no less true when it comes to the ever caring and thoughtful Gabriel Devereux. She finds herself longing for more than the friendship they’ve always had. When he returns home a broken man, her heart yearns to care for him, but will he ever see her as more than the master’s daughter? Can he come to view her through the eyes of True Love? When Rose falls into a sudden and deep slumber, it will take every bit of Gabriel’s skills and loving service to bring her back to him.
Service and Slumber is set in early 18th century France and continues where Loved by the Beast leaves off. While this is inspired by Sleeping Beauty, it is mixed in with the Beauty and the Beast tale and is historical, so don’t expect fairies and magical spinning wheels!”

My Review
A sweet sequel to Loved by the Beast!
I loved seeing the MCs of the previous book (Lea and Audric) as parents. Naming their daughter Rose was quite fitting.
Poor, poor Gabe. After experiencing all that he did, it’s no wonder he became disillusioned for so long.
I did have a hard time understanding why Eduoard was so resistant to Gabe’s romance with Rose and why Rose was so upset at Gabe after she woke up.
Also, the aftermath of Rose’s waking up thankfully wasn’t glossed over. Such a severe injury and prolonged coma would definitely have some lingering effects.
